Interview With Keary Taylor

Hello and welcome, author, Keary Taylor!

Keary Taylor grew up along the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where she started creating imaginary worlds and daring characters who always fell in love. She now resides on a tiny island in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and their two young children. She continues to have an overactive imagination that frequently keeps her up at night.

She is the bestselling, Wall Street Journal featured author of Branded, Forsaken, Vindicated, Afterlife (Fall of Angels series), Eden, and What I Didn't Say.

Her blog is located: here

Here goes the interview:

Me: So, what got you into writing? What made you go and say, "This is what I want to do with my life."

Keary: I used to write a lot as a teenager. The first “book” I ever wrote was a 200 page Harry Potter fanfic with my best friend. But when I started having kids I started writing again, to have something for myself. And I just couldn’t stop. So I decided to try and put my books out there and see if people liked them.

Me: What I Didn't Say is a powerful read, its really emotional, what inspiried you to write something like this?

Keary: If you read the Author’s Note at the end of the book you find that a lot of the book is based on my own personal experiences. I went through a really big struggle as a teenager, something that I still deal with today. And I had the idea to write a character who could no longer talk. It was a very interesting journey.

Me:Are you reading anything very good? If so tell us about it. If not, what book would you die to read?

Keary: I just finished Hourglass by Myra McEntire. I really enjoyed that one. Up next is Insurgent by Veronica Roth. I loved Divergent so I look forward to book 2!

Me: I know from a personal experience it is hard to write, you have released many books, so I ask, what is your method of writing? How do you constantly type without getting distracted or bored from the book and forget about it?

Keary: I LOVE writing, in an almost obsessive way, lol! I also treat it like a job, which at this point it is for me. I work every day for a few hours a day (I also have a 4 and 2 year old so scheduling is sometimes tricky). I know focus is an issue with some writers but it is just something that I can’t seem to turn my brain off too!

Me:I really do love Sam's and Jake's character. What made you come up with these two?

Keary: For me, characters are just born into my head, full of personality, quirks, and faults. Jake was a character who surprised me. I expected him to have a harder time dealing with the things that happened to him, but he was so much stronger that I thought he would be.

Here's the blurb and cover for her book, What I Didn't Say.

What I Didn't Say

Getting drunk homecoming night your senior year is never a good idea, but Jake Hayes never expected it all to end with a car crash and a t-post embedded in his throat.

His biggest regret about it all? What he never said to Samantha Shay. He's been in love with her for years and never had the guts to tell her. Now it's too late. Because after that night, Jake will never be able to talk again.

When Jake returns to his small island home, population 5,000, he'll have to learn how to deal with being mute. He also finds that his family isn't limited to his six brothers and sisters, that sometimes an entire island is watching out for you. And when he gets the chance to spend more time with Samantha, she'll help him learn that not being able to talk isn’t the worst thing that could ever happen to you. Maybe, if she'll let him, Jake will finally tell her what he didn't say before, even if he can't actually say it.

Well, have a great night and hope you enjoyed my post!

  1. I finished What I didn't say a couple of days ago. Absolutely LOVED it! It made my 2012 Favorite Reads list.

I have Hourglass on my overflowing bookshelf also. :) Perhaps I'll get to it soon.

    1. Oh yes, I loved it as well and Hourglass is still there on my TBR list, I need to get to it as well
