Fade By Lisa McMann Book Review

Fade By Lisa McMann (Dream Catcher #2)

Date Published: March 4th, 2008 by Simon Pulse
Pages: 210 pages
Source: Library
Format: Hard back
Cover Love: Its alright, I don't like lust over it or anything, but its pretty to look at.

Summary: For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime. She can't tell anybody about what she does they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can’t control.
Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant.

My Thoughts: I read this series a LOOOONNNGG time ago, like for a looonngg time. I mean the whole story itself is a very unique, but the book it self was completely different from how I expected it. It took a complete 180 turn from Wake. Its so different, not the same book with sweet Janie and the dream catching, in Fade things got HARDCORE. The plot, although easy to get into, confused me like fuck.

Janie is working on a case trying to find a supposed rapist and Cabel, you know as her boyfriend, disapproves of this because he loves her. I understand this as well, but on a completely different note, if they're soooo in love, why does she not know his birthday? Okay, shows me what kind of love you guys have. But anyways, back to the case, before they start, they receive a phone call which causes them to look into a potential rape, but seriously, they have no evidence to make it seem like it was rape that was the crime besides a random call, but they suspect it anyways.

So they go on this crazy adventure and I must say, it keeps you wanting more, but for me its not the same. Its also so pornographic, its made for the older YA readers. I'm looking forward to reading Gone, but I hope we learn more on Janie's condition with the whole dream walking thing. In this book, we see how it really affects her life and what its going to do to her down the road.

The ending was VERY predictable, but I knew I had to finish it. So if you want a very fast paced, hardcore book, this one is for you. But! If you're expecting it to be like Wake, you're wrong.

Happy Readings,
Kandee

  1. I've seen this series around before, but never really got around to it. Sounds like it'd be an interesting read.

    1. It is a pretty interesting book series, but not very memorable. The first book? Yeah, but not the rest of the series.

      No problem.
