The Vow Movie Review

The Vow

Starring: Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, Jessica Lange
Summary: A car accident puts Paige in a coma, and when she wakes up with severe memory loss, her husband Leo works to win her heart again.
I Give This Movie A: B+

My Thoughts:
This is one of the best movies I have seen in a while. And not just because of Rachel McAddams. You read up in the summary what this movie is about, but also, this is based off a real story. This happened to an actual couple, which is the sweetest. I mean, whoa. You would think this is just a regular movie that Hollywood made up because it is really unbelievable.

What the summary doesn't explain is that the last thing Paige remembers is being in law school and being engaged to Jeremy, her ex, so that puts Channing's character, Leo, in a predicament since Paige and him are newlyweds. What captured me into this was the love, the love that a man could have for a woman that would make him do all these things for her, even walking away if that's what made her happy.

A lot of romance movies have been marked as cliche. This wasn't, but I will have all these people hating on this movie. This movie is not for you if you don't like romance movies or are very cynical.

Paige, in this movie, is kind of a bitch. And Rachel is great at portraying this bitchy, unknowing character. I love her character and the way they show her past is interesting. And her family, too. Jessica Lange is incredible. A real scene stealer, even though her character was mean, I felt for her as well. I mean it was really interesting on her not remembering why she wasn't talking to her family  and with them trying to send her back to law school and her being with Jeremy. When Channing punched him, I cheered and clapped.   Channing also plays serious-yet-loving, love struck man, which is very different from some of the things I've seen him in, 21 Jump Street for example. The love he feels for Paige is just amazing.

So I must say this is a movie to see, although it is sort of too romantic-y (Not a word), I guarantee you'll enjoy it. Not a movie for Valentine's Day if you happen to be alone for it, I must say.

Happy Readings,
