Silver Linings Playbook Movie Review

Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Robert Di Niro, Jacki Weaver and Chris Tucker
Summary: Pat Solitano, who has a bipolar disorder, is released from a mental health facility into the care of his parents after eight months of treatment. He learns that his wife, Nikki, has moved away and his father, Pat Sr. is out of work and resorting to bookmaking to earn money to start a restaurant. Pat is determined to get his life back on track and reconcile with Nikki, who obtained a restraining order against him after the violent episode that sent him away. Then he meets Tiffany....

My Thoughts: In my mind, I never thought there would be a movie that would beat 500 Days of Summer. But, my readers, this movie has done the impossible. I've only seen Bradley Cooper in like silly, silly things, for example The Hangover. I know he's been getting a lot of awards for his more serious work, like this and The Words. And I have been really, really impressed. I am not a particular Bradley Cooper fan, but I think I am now. He's great, but not a particular hi-light to the movie.

Yes, you get Glee applause Mr.Cooper. BUT THIS WOMAN.

Jennifer Lawrence makes this movie. She is the gold in this movie. After seeing this movie, I think I have a deep attraction to this woman. She's not only beautiful, she's HILARIOUS! She stole the show. Her facial expressions, her tone of voice, everything was perfect. She has a ton of roles of different proportions, like Mystique, or Katniss, but now she's playing a woman who is a little bit crazy or maybe a lot.

Crazier than me, I must say.

She's a mess, but a wonderful, wonderful mess. I definitely want to see more of her.

Another thing I enjoyed was seeing Chris Tucker. I have not seen him in a film in FOREVER. And so it was enjoyable seeing him in this movie and, like Bradley Cooper, not seeing him in just comedy. Seeing that other side of him was great. I really enjoyed seeing him in different things, like this. But it was a waste that he didn't play a greater role in the movie.

The movie was beautiful, really it was and I would definitely see it again. I didn't feel like it dragged or it was too slow even though it was over 2 hours long, it was worth it. Trust me.

The love sprouted from this movie was not cliche, it was unique and ultimately one of the best movies of 2012, yet I didn't see it until 2013. Sad, right?

  1. I also adored this movie! :) It really shocked me by how amazing it was.

    1. I know. I didn't expect it to be as good as it was.
